Odisha Labour Commissioner revises Minimum Wages including Variable Dearness Allowance effective 1st April, 2018

In a notification dated 30th April, 2018, the Office of the Labour Commissioner, Bhubaneshwar, revised the Minimum Wages including Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) applicable to unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled categories of employees, effective since 01st April, 2018, as specified in the table below;

Background:

Previously in notification number 6502-LL-I (AR)-1/15/LESI dated 24th July, 2015 issued by Labour and ESI Department, Government of Odisha fixed the minimum rate of wages for unskilled, semi-skilled, skilled and highly skilled in 88 scheduled employments. The State Advisory Board further in its 50th meeting advised to adopt a system of revision of VDA @ Re. 0.90/- per point rise in Customer Price Index (CPI) to be effective from 1st April of every year, starting from 1st April, 2016. Labour Commissioner, Odisha, has notified payment of VDA @ Rs. 7.20/- w.e.f. 01st April, 2016 and Rs. 6.20/- w.e.f. 01st April, 2017.
