Maharashtra Environment Department releases Guidebook with pictorial illustrations of plastic items which are “Banned” or “Allowed” to spread public awareness

In a recent Circular dated 10th July, 2018 issued by the Environment Department, Maharashtra (Department), the Department has released a booklet depicting pictorial illustrations of the Plastic and Thermocol items which have been recently “Banned” or “Allowed” in light of the recent ban imposed on Plastic in the State of Maharashtra.

 This initiative has been taken up with a view to spread awareness amongst the public at large.

 We have extracted the pictorial illustrations and classified the items which are “Banned” or “Allowed” in a tabular manner given below for ease of understanding.

This Guidebook reiterates the penalties prescribed in the Plastic and Thermocol Notification:

  1. First offence: A fine of Rs. 50,000/-
  2. Second Offence: A fine of Rs. 10,000/-
  3. Third Offence: A fine of Rs. 25,000 and 3 months Imprisonment.
