Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) has extended the due date for obtaining ‘No Objection Certificate’ (“NOC”) for all existing ground water users

The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Central Ground Water Authority (“Ministry”) has extended the due date for submission of online applications through NOCAP for obtaining ‘No Objection Certificate’ (“NOC”) from Central Ground Water Authority (“CGWA”) by all existing ground water users including industrial, infrastructure and mining projects. The due date has been extended up to 30.06.2018 by a notice dated 1.1.2018.

The Ministry has directed all users drawing ground water without a valid NOC to submit their applications by 30.06.2018. The Ministry has clarified that any failure to submit applications before the date will render the concerned users responsible for non-compliance of the directions of CGWA and Hon’ble NGT.

The Ministry has further clarified that since all States / Union Territories are not being regulated by CGWA, but is being done through constituted State Ground Water Authority or government orders, ground water users located in such States/Union Territories have been directed to obtain NOC from the respective State/ Union Territories Ground Water Authorities.

CGWA does not issue NOC for Groundwater Withdrawal in these States / UTs.
