MOEF notifies the Environment Protection (2nd Amendment) Rules, 2019; sets parameters of Effluent Standards for Automobile Standalone Service Station; effective since 26.12.2019

In a Notification dated 26th December, 2019 the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (“Ministry”) has notified the Environment (Protection) Second Amendment Rules, 2019 which was previously published by the Ministry for comments and suggestions on 5th December, 2018.

The Environment (Protection) Second Amendment Rules, 2019 have become effective since 26th December, 2019.

The Amendment adds the industry of Automobile Standalone Service Station or Service Station attached to a Petrol Pump including Bus Depots or Workshop in Schedule I and has mentioned the parameters and effluent standards to be maintained by the industry.

The limit of 5 mg/l of dissolved phosphates (as P) (mg/l) and 5 mg/l of Zinc for Service stations, Bus Depots and Workshops with metal pre-treatment facilities will also apply.
