MOEF introduces standard Environmental Clearance conditions for obtaining Environmental Clearance; Applicable to projects under Infrastructure and Building / Construction / Area Development sectors

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (“Ministry”) has, in a recently released Memorandum announced that in order to expedite the process of obtaining Environmental Clearance without compromising the existing environmental norms and the consistency of Environmental Impact Assessment, it has prepared a set of standard Environmental Clearance conditions which are applicable to the following sectors:

i) Infrastructure;

ii) Building / Construction Projects and Area Development Projects.

The standard Environmental Clearance conditions have been issued for the following projects under the aforementioned sectors:

Infrastructure

i)     Airports;

ii)    Common hazardous waste treatment, storage and disposal facilities;

iii)   Bio medical waste treatment facility;

iv)   Port, Harbour, Breakwater and Dredging;

v)    Aerial Ropeways;

vi)   Common Effluent Treatment Plants;

vii)  Common Municipal Solid Waste Management Facility.

Building / Construction Projects, Area Development Projects

i)Building and construction projects

ii)Township and area development projects

The standard Environmental Clearance conditions are effective immediately.
