Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change invites comments to the proposed amendment on the Environment Protection Rules, 1986

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change has issued draft notification for a proposed amendment to the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986 (“Rules”) for the purpose of inviting comments from the general public.

The proposed amendment seeks to modify Schedule I of the Rules by inserting four new entries which are enumerated below:

105B Natural gas
105C Petcoke and Petcoke blend 600 mg/Nmat 6% dry O2, for solid fuel and 3% dry Ofor liquid fuel 300 mg/Nmat 6% dry O2, for solid fuel and 3% dry Ofor liquid fuel
105D Other fuels

The following industries using boilers shall have to adhere to these new norms:

(1) Sugar (2) cotton textiles (3) composite woolen mills (4) synthetic rubber (5) pulp and paper (6) distilleries (7) leather industries (8) calcium carbide (9) carbon black (10) natural rubber (11) asbestos (12) caustic soda (13) small boilers (14) aluminum paints (15) tannery (16) inorganic chemical (17) lime kiln (18) glass industry (19) ceramic (20) foundries (21) re-heating furnaces.
