Right to Repair – A Concept & the Indian Road Ahead

Lexplosion Webinar dated 18-November-2022 | Right to Repair – A Concept & the Indian Road Ahead

The ‘Right to Repair’, has been a long-standing tussle between the manufacturers IP rights and the end-consumers’ right to get the product repaired at their own convenience. But recently the debate has gained new momentum in India because of the idea LiFE (i.e., “Lifestyle for the Environment”) movement through sustainable consumption introduced by our Prime Minister during the UN Climate Change Conference last year, following which India started the process of making a legislation to formally incorporate the ‘Right to Repair’.

In view of the legislation being framed for the practical implementation of ‘Right to Repair’, we at Lexplosion Solutions are pleased to host our latest webinar on the topic “Right to Repair’ – A Concept & the Indian Road Ahead”.

We are delighted to host Ms. Arya Mathew of Stovekraft Limited and Mr. Parth Jani from RR Kabel Limited in our webinar. The session was moderated by Antara Dasgupta, vidya mukherjee and Susmit Kundu from Lexplosion Solutions.

In this webinar, we will explore, among other things, the ramifications of the right coming into effect on:

  • Background of the topic and what can we learn from the existing Legislative Framework and Landmark Judgments Across the Globe
  • Tackling legal challenges pertaining to restructuring contracts, protecting trade secrets, data privacy, and other interests.
  • Analysis of the changes required to accommodate product self – repairability
  • Whether ‘Right to Repair’ will help take a step closer towards sustainability by making consumption sustainable.
  • Whether there is a need to re-prioritize compliances in light of potential liability for manufacturers
