FSSAI notifies Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Seventeenth Amendment Regulations, 2017

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has issued the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Seventeenth Amendment Regulations, 2017 (“Amendment Regulations”) on 17th November, 2017, further amending Regulation 3.2 of the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011 (“Principal Regulations”).

 The Amendment Regulations has inserted and substituted certain clauses in Regulation 3.2 of the Principal Regulations, specifying the standards/parameters to be followed in respect of following categories of food additives:

  1. Gelling agent or Thickener or stabilizer
  2. Antioxidants
  3. Glazing Agent
  4. Humectant or Wetting Agent or Dispersing Agent
  5. Acidity regulator
  6. Preservative
  7. Food Colours
  8. Sweetner or Humectant or Sequestrant
