Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) further extends timeline to 30.09.2018 for existing ground water users to submit NOC applications

The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation Central Ground Water Authority (“Ministry”) had in its previous public notice, dated 01.01.2018, allowed existing ground water users including Industrial, Infrastructure and Mining projects to submit applications for ‘No Objection Certificate’ (“NOC”) before the Central Ground Water Authority (“CGWA”) by 30.06.2018.

In light of ongoing modifications in the existing guidelines and to address the grievances of many ground water users in the country, the due date for submitting applications for NOC has been further extended to 30.09.2018.
All users drawing ground water without a valid NOC are directed to submit their applications for NOC by or before the said date. Any failure to submit applications before this date will render the user no-compliant of the directions of CGWA and Hon’ble NGT.

Ground water users located in the States/Union Territories, where ground water development is not being regulated by CGWA shall obtain NOC from the respective State/UT Ground Water Authorities. Please refer to the link below for the list of such States/Union Territories which will require obtaining the NOC from their state/UT Ground Water Authorities:
