TN Government introduces Bill to amend Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act, 1971

The Tamil Nadu Government has issued a Bill to amend the Tamil Nadu Town and Country Planning Act, 1971 (“Principal Act”) which was published in the Tamil Nadu Gazette dated 24th March, 2017.

The Bill proposes to make the following amendment:

Every permission for development granted under section 49 shall remain in force for a period of three years from the date of such permission:

Every permission for development granted under section 49 shall remain in force for a period of five years from the date of such permission:

 

 

As per the Bill, the validity period of permission granted to a person to carry out any development on any land or building is proposed to be increased to a period of five years, starting from the date of obtaining such permission.

 

At present, such permission remains valid for a period of three years.
