The Transport, Roads and Buildings Department, Andhra Pradesh amends the Andhra Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989

The Transport, Roads and Buildings Department, Andhra Pradesh (“Department”), vide a notification in the Andhra Pradesh Gazette dated 28th December, 2017, made amendment to Rule 185 of the Andhra Pradesh Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 (“Rule”).

 

Amendment – Sub Clause (xvi)(a) inserted after Sub Clause (xvi) of clause (a) of Sub-Rule (1) of Rule 185

According to the inserted sub-clause (xvi)(a), if any Permit Holder under the Rule comes under the definition of a Motor Transport Undertaking, such Permit Holder shall have to get the Motor Transport Undertaking registered under the Motor Transport Workers Act, 1961.

 

Background:

A draft of the amendment to the Rule was published, vide G.O.Ms.No.68 of the Department dated 8th December, 2017, in the Extraordinary issue of the Andhra Pradesh Gazette No.783 dated 8th December, 2017 for inviting objections or suggestions from any person with respect to the said draft amendment before the expiry of a period of ten days from the date of publication of the notification.

Since no objections or suggestions were received from any person within the stipulated time, this notification has been issued.
