Submission of Aadhaar number not mandatory for International Workers and workers from Nepal and Bhutan, informs EPFO

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (“EPFO”) has issued a Circular on 4th August, 2017 informing that Aadhaar number will not be mandatory for International Workers and workers from Nepal and Bhutan.

The Circular further states that for those members who have obtained Universal Account Number (“UAN”) before 1st July, 2017 and have to go for re-registration,submission of Aadhaar will be optional up to 30th September, 2017.

Therefore, effectively, the submission of verified Aadhaar will become mandatory for all such members from 1st October, 2017.
