Records & Registers to be soon filed electronically; amendments likely to Andhra Pradesh Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Rules, 1970

In a notification dated 14th December, 2018, The Andhra Pradesh Labour Department has proposed amendments (“Draft Amendments”) to the Andhra Pradesh Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Rules, 1970 “Principle Rules”.

The Department invites objections or suggestions if any, must be addressed to the Special Chief Secretary to Government, Labour Employment Training & Factories (Labour II) Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh through the Commissioner of Labour, Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada. The comments / suggestions are invited till 14th January,2019.

Key Highlights:

  • Once the draft rules are notified, going forward all registers and other records will have to be maintained electronically.  Earlier registers and other records had to be maintained in physical form.
  • The Amendments are proposed to the Rule 80 which deals with Registers and Records and Collection of Statistics,
  • The draft amendment have clubbed sub clause (1) and (2) thereby consolidating the provisions
  • As per the proposed amendment, all records will going forward have to be maintained electronically. the requirement to maintain registers for physically for last 3 years is no longer there.
  • Further, since going forward registers and records will have to be maintained electronically, no physical inspection as such will take place. However, the registers and records will have to be made accessible to the inspector whenever required
