Ministry of Health and Family Welfare invites comments on its plan to re-classify ‘Oxytocin as a Schedule H1 category Drug’ till 17th August, 2018

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (“Ministry”) proposes to omit oxytocin from the category of Schedule H drugs (Drugs which can be sold only on presentation of prescription of medical practitioners) and to label oxytocin as a Schedule H1 category drug (which deals with 3rd & 4th generation antibiotics, anti-tuberculosis drugs, psychotropic drugs).

 The Ministry intends to carry out the above mentioned changes through a proposed amendment to the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945.

 Objections and suggestions are invited to the said amendment and can be addressed to the Deputy Secretary (Drugs), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Room No. 414 A, D Wing, Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi – 110011 or can be sent through email in the email id – drugsdiv-mohfw@nic.in within 17th of August, 2018.
