Minimum wages for Andaman and Nicobar gets revised w.e.f. 1st January, 2017

The Department of Labour, Employment and Training, Andaman and Nicobar Administration has revised the Minimum Rates of Wages applicable to the Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands via an Order dated 10th January, 2017. The revised Minimum Rates of Wages is effective from 1st January, 2017 and will remain in force for six months.

The Minimum Rates of Wages has been notified with respect to the following six schedules of employment:

• Agriculture
• Construction or maintenance of roads or in building operations or in stone breaking or stone crushing
• Employed for teaching and non-teaching in Educational Institutes/Schools/nurseries/kindergarten/ tutorials/ coaching institutes in private sector other than CBSE affiliated institutions
• Loading and Unloading
• Wood based Industries
• Shops and commercial establishments, hotels, lodging houses, restaurants, eating houses etc.
