Maharashtra Pollution Control Board introduces randomized risk based inspection and sampling through CIS software based tool

November 3, 2017 EHS 0

The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (“Board”) has introduced a Randomized Risk Based Inspection and Sampling through CIS (software based tool) for the selection of industries on the basis of their potential to generate pollution. The software has been designed in a manner to ensure that the same inspector does not inspect an establishment/industry/organisation twice consecutively. Therefore, it aims to ensure effective transparency and  put in place a monitoring mechanism of the performance of the Field Officers.

The Board has  now facilitated  the download of inspection reports for the last two years. Further, Regional/ Sub-regional Officers have been instructed by the Board to ensure that inspection reports since January 2015 are made available online on the ec-MPCB portal.
