Labour Department, West Bengal exempts shops and commercial establishments from renewing licenses post its expiry

In a recent notification dated 28th December, 2018, the West Bengal Labour Department has exempted all shops and commercial establishments registered under the West Bengal Shops and Establishments Act, 1963 (Act) from the requirement to renew licenses after its expiry.

Consequently, the provisions relating to fees for renewal of licences of shops and establishments under the Act is done away with.

Hence, going forward shops and commercial establishments in West Bengal will not be required to renew licenses under the shops and establishments act after the expiry of the license period.
