IRDAI announces creation of Aadhar Number- linked database for insurance agents, corporate agents and web aggregators
In a recent Circular dated 12th July, 2017, the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (“IRDA”) has advised insurers and insurance intermediaries (which includes, broker qualified persons, specified persons of corporate agents, authorized verifiers for web aggregators) to collect Aadhar numberand other details from insurance agents and trained and qualified persons of insurance intermediaries.
This information will be required to be uploaded in a portal, which is to be developed by Insurance Information Bureau (IIB).
IIB will be developing this portal in line with the Point of Sales portal developed earlier by them.
IRDA has therefore, advised insurers to be ready with the required details, so that the same can be uploaded on a date announced by it.
