Government of Maharashtra issues circular mandating all establishments, factories, shops, etc. to give voters in poling areas two hours off to exercise their voting rights on 06.02.2020

The Maharashtra Government has issued an order to all employers to give voters two hours off in order to exercise their voting rights on 6th Feb, 2020 (Day of Election) through a government circular, dated 23th Jan 2020.

 

  • All workers/ officers/ employees who are eligible voters in the electoral polling area should be given a minimum 2 hours off to exercise their voting rights.
  • This order will be applicable to all the establishments, factories, shops, etc. coming under the Industry, Energy and Labour Department. For example, establishment of private companies,

all shops and other establishments, residential hotels, eating houses, other houses, theaters, businesses, industrial activities or other establishments as well as Information and technology companies, shopping centers, malls, retailers, etc.

  • Strict precautions should be taken by the owners of the all establishments/ managements who come under industries, energy and labour department to ensure that the order is followed.
  • In case of any complaint regarding the voters not getting the right holiday or concession for voting, appropriate action shall be taken against the owners.

The State Election Commission Election will be held on 06.02.2020 at all locations as mentioned in the Annexure below.
