FSSAI provides FBO’s time till 1st January, 2019 to comply with revised food standards for food grains, sweeting agents, cocoa and sugar items

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has released the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Ninth Amendment Regulations, 2018 which is amending the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.

This notification is effective 31st July, 2018, but the Food Business Operators are required to comply with the provisions under the amendment by 1st January, 2019.

There has been amendments in Food Standards and Additives with respect to the following types of items:

  1. Cereals and Cereal Products like food grains, Jawar, Pulses, Maize, etc.
  2. Sweets and Confectionery items like, Dry Mixtures of Cocoa and Sugars, chocolate powder, etc.;
  3. Sweetening agents including Honey, etc.
