FSSAI proposes new standards of Rice, Basmati Rice, Chia Seeds, Spices, Mixed Masala Powder, etc.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has proposed a Draft Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Amendment Regulations, 2018 (the “Draft Regulations”) which proposes to fix new standards for the following food items such as Basmati Rice, Chia Seeds, Gari (Cassava product), Edible Cassava Flour, Roasted Bengal Gram Flour -Chana Sattu, Ragi Flour, Almond Kernels, Coconut Milk Powder (Non Dairy), Mixed Masala Powder, Spice Oleoresins, Tejpat, Star Anise and Phytostanolin, in addition to the existing standards of Cereal & Cereal Products, spices, condiments and related products and Fruit and vegetable products provided under the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011:

 The FSSAI has invited objections or suggestions, which can be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India, FDA Bhawan, Kotla road, New Delhi – 110002 or emailed to regulation@fssai.gov.in within  31st August, 2018.
