FSSAI has advised its Safety Officers of States and Union Territories to inspect the units manufacturing / processing edible oil

Further to the update reported in the trail mail, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (“FSSAI”) has advised its Safety Officers of States and Union Territories to inspect units manufacturing or processing edible oil, particularly those with large capacity.

FSSAI has initiated this move to check and verify whether the units have complied with the notification in the trail mail, which pertains to limiting trans fatty content in Interesterified Vegetable Fat or Oil, Margarine and Fat Spreads and Hydrogenated Vegetable Oils at a level of 5%.
