ESIC launches the Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees
With a view to provide social security to all covered under the ESI Act, 1948 (“Act”), the Employees State Insurance Corporation (“ESIC”) has launched the Scheme for Promoting Registration of Employers and Employees (“SPREE”). The SPREE will be effective from 20th December, 2016-31st March, 2017.
Pursuant to this, the Regional directors are advised to popularize the SPREE and enlighten the employers the benefit of it.
The highlights of the SPREE are as follows:
i. One-time opportunity for registration under the Act without attracting liability for the past periods, even if the Act is applicable retrospectively.
ii. Officers and staff are deputed in specific areas for creating awareness and publicity among the stakeholders.
iii. The deputed officials will visit all the units already covered as well as those coverable within the specified area and distribute the handbills to employers/employees.
iv. Adequate number of handbills in local language be printed by the office of Regional Directors.
