Drugs and Cosmetics (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2017

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued the Drugs and Cosmetics (Sixth Amendment) Rules, 2017 (“Amendment Rules”) thereby amending the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules, 1945 (“Principal Rules”).

The Amendment Rules are effective since 30th March, 2017.

By virtue of this amendment, in ‘Schedule H’ of the Principal Rules, which prescribes a list of Prescription Drugs a new entry has been inserted, namely “537. Etizolam”.

Please note that the substances specified in Schedule H cannot be sold by retail, except on and in accordance with the prescription of a Registered Medical Practitioner.
