Department of Environment, Chandigarh releases a Guidebook with pictorial illustrations indicating Plastic Items which are Banned / to be Avoided / Allowed in the State

The Department of Environment, Chandigarh (“Department”) has released a Guidebook with pictorial illustrations in June, 2019 emphasizing on the ban on plastics in the Union Territory.

The Guidebook displays the items which have been “Banned” or “Allowed” or should be “Avoided” by the people in light of the recent ban imposed on Plastic in the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

This initiative has been taken up with a view to spread awareness amongst the public at large.

This Guidebook draws its essence from the notification dated 30th July, 2008 in which the Department had directed that no person including a shopkeeper, vendor, wholeseller or retailer, trader, hawker or rehriwala etc., must use polythene/plastic carry bags for supply of goods in polythene/plastic carry bags and further directs that no person must manufacture, store, import, sell or transport polythene/plastic carry bags in Union Territory, Chandigarh.
