Ban on burning of solid wastes in the state of Karnataka

In view of the recommendation of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (‘Board’), the Karnataka Government (‘Government’), by way of a notification dated 3rd August, 2017, has imposed a complete ban on the burning of solid wastes (including twigs and leaves of plants) in open places within the jurisdiction of all local urban bodies including Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagare Palike and at solid waste landfill sites in Karnataka.

The step has been taken by the Government to prevent the ill-effect on the health of general public as a result of the concentration of the solid waste in open places.
